Mr. Mohamed Mehasseb graduated in Medicine from the University of Cairo, Egypt, in 1997. He earned his MSc in 2001 and his MD in 2005 from the same institution.
He completed most of his specialist training in Newcastle upon Tyne and Leicester, achieving accreditation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2010. He then pursued advanced training in laparoscopic surgery in Clermont-Ferrand, France, followed by a Fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. In 2011, he was awarded a PhD from the University of Leicester.
In 2012, Mr. Mehasseb was appointed as a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon and Oncologist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. In 2020, he moved to Liverpool Women's Hospital, where he continues his NHS practice.
Recognized for his exceptional contributions, Mr. Mehasseb holds two clinical excellence awards, celebrating his outstanding patient care, clinical skills, and dedication to teaching and service development.
He is a prolific author with numerous publications, including peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and reviews. He has received multiple research grants focusing on gynaecology and women's health. His work has been presented at national and international conferences, earning him several best presentation awards.
A respected educator and speaker, Mr. Mehasseb has delivered lectures and workshops at regional, national, and international events. He has also organized and led various undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
He holds an Expert Witness Certificate and provides medico-legal reports within his specialty.
Mr. Mehasseb is an active member of numerous professional societies in gynaecological oncology. He has previously served as a member of the Guidelines Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, chaired the NICE Guideline Committee on Heavy Menstrual Bleeding, and acted as Associate Editor of The Obstetrician & Gynaecologist journal. Additionally, he has contributed as an Advisory Board Member for Ethicon Endo-Surgery and Molnlycke Healthcare.
In 2024, he chaired the Local Organising Committee for the British Gynaecological Cancer Society Annual Scientific Meeting in Liverpool.
Fluent in English, Arabic, and French, Mr. Mehasseb continues to make significant contributions to his field, both clinically and academically.
